It’s been just over two weeks since the last official meeting of Evidence. It’s been strange for me, not meeting with my family on Wednesday nights. To be honest Evidence ending scares me a little. I’m not sure where my spiritual life will go. It’s been my church, my spiritual touchstone, my anchor. I found Christ in Tommy’s living room, was baptized in his pool. I’m not sure where my spiritual life will go.
However, I realized that Evidence isn’t ending, just changing. It, and all of us, are growing, are going to grow, in ways that only God can imagine. The more I think about it the more I realize that it was time for Tommy and myself, for all of us, to move on. Janna and Brittney are going away to college. Ryan, Josh, and Nugget are going back. Nicole went back to Germany. Dave’s going to study in Ireland. Other’s of us are working. With all of us in so many different places, doing so many different things, it’s just not practical for us to meet every week any more. However, I’ve come to realize, more so over the past two weeks, that not being close doesn’t make us any less of a community, any less of a family.
To that effect this blog will be changing a little. It was created as a way for Evidence to keep informed about each other and it will still serve that purpose. However, we will now be receiving newsletters from Janna (and anyone else who wants to write one), updates from Dave in Ireland, and will continue to receive thoughts from Tommy. I’ll be altering the page to reflect these new contributors and linking us to Dave’s travel blog as soon as I figure out how to do it.
It’s been a wonderful five years, and all I can do is thank the Lord for blessing me so abundantly with the people and experiences he’s put into my life over those years. Thank you all for being, and remaining, my family.
Jessica
